The same report found that about 80% of laundromats in the United States are owned by individuals or families rather than large corporations.

A 2020 survey by the Coin Laundry Association (CLA) found that the average laundromat owner in the United States has been in the industry for 11 years, and owns 2.6 stores.

The same survey found that the majority of laundromat owners are aged 45-54 (37%), followed by those aged 35-44 (27%) and those aged 55-64 (23%).

In terms of gender, the CLA survey found that about 62% of laundromat owners are male, while 38% are female.
